Kitten Emergency

Hey, Folks...

Jo and I are having a bit of a crisis. As those of you who still read this journal know, Jo and I have taken in two kittens. We absolutely CANNOT keep them. For one thing, our lease forbids more than two cats. We've been skating by with three for a few months, risking eviction by doing so. For a second thing, Riley has been super stressed out by all of this. Finally, Jo's health has taken a major downturn in the las month or so, and she doesn't have the mental, emotional, or physical strength to cope with two kittens. She's spent the last month trying to find them a home, and the stress has pushed her to the edge. I know it's difficult times for all of yo out there, but I need to put out a final plea to you all - is there anyone out there that could take in two unbearably cute and friendly kittens? I'm happy to pay costs for vaccinations and spay/neutering, as well as food for them. The only condiiton is that these two need to stay together. They were born the only two of the litter, and have bonded together. Their human socialization has been amazing - when they went to our vet for first checkup and vaccinations, the vet refused to put "feral" on their charts. She said that these two were so sweet and good-natured that they didn't resemble feral-borns. In the last few weeks, we've been doing our best to foster them, but the fact is, as much as we've tried, there's only so much we can do. Just having them in the house has driven Jo to be bed-bound. She worries constantly, not merely about the kittens, but how having them in the house will affect Riley, Sasquatch and Minnie. As I write this, the kittens are sleeping in obscenely cute poses - Callie is kippered on her back with her feet in the air, while Shadow has curled up against my foot.

We're at our wit's end what to do. I have calls in to every shelter from here (full up and then some) to the Bay Area (also full up). These kittens deserve better. I will put up whatever I can (not an insubstantial amount) to a foster family, or an adopter. Is there anyone out there that can help us out?
